Frequently Asked Questions

We are the proud new owners of Alpine Kennels & Grooming! We were born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, and relocated to Hummelstown to follow our dreams. Our children have made their way to this side of the state, and it was no question to follow. We have been rescuing and fostering dogs for many years and partner with the Canine Rescue of Central PA and Charlie’s Crusaders. We have three human children, Hayley, Michael, and Austin and our four-legged children include Jax, Whiskey, Rex, and Duncan. Having the kennel in our backyard is truly all we could have asked for in life!

Great news…We are now open 7 days a week!

Absolutely none. We welcome all breeds of dogs. No matter the size or loudness of the bark, your dog is always welcome at the kennel!

Yes, we have a cat-specific room in a separate part of the Kennel away from our doggie guests. Our kitty guests can enjoy their cage or share with their sibling(s). Toys, towels, beds, and litter boxes are provided. At the owner’s permission, we will allow each cat playtime outside of the crate where they can stretch their legs and enjoy our jungle gym tower throughout the room!

The entire kennel is heated and air-conditioned. The kennel floors are heated with the flick of a switch, and every three (3) runs share an air conditioner unit.

We accept credit, debit, cash, and checks. There is a $25.00 fee for all returned checks. If a check is not honored, we will no longer accept checks from the client moving forward.

Unfortunately not, due to liability reasons. Even though dogs get along at home, behaviors can change in new and stressful environments. While we live on the property, we cannot be in the kennel 24/7 and do not want your pets to get frustrated with each other. Therefore, we will allow your pets to interact with each other throughout the day with our supervision. Additionally, we can kennel them side by side or across from one another so they can still see each other. We recommend you bring blankets or clothing with your smell for comfort during your animal’s stay.

We ask you to email us a copy of the above vaccination records before your pet visits with us or bring the original certificate so we may make a copy upon your pet’s arrival. Under Pennsylvania law, we cannot board your pet unless they have the required vaccinations.

We have experience with all breeds, ages, and behaviors. If your dog has a bite history, we ask that you be honest with us upfront for our safety and the safety of our guests boarding with us. We will have a special intake form we will ask you to complete upon arrival, so we have all the information needed to ensure we do not put ourselves or your dog in a situation to bite or cause harm.
